bauma CHINA (bauma SHANGHAI)

bauma CHINA — branded bauma SHANGHAI from 2026 — is Asia's leading trade fair for construction machinery, building-material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles. Organised by Messe München, it has run in Shanghai every two years since 2002 and is the Asian counterpart of bauma Munich, the largest trade fair in the world.

The 2026 edition is the first to use a "One Show, Two Venues" format, with both venues in Pudong, Shanghai:

• SWEECC — Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center — 23–26 November 2026
• SNIEC — Shanghai New International Expo Centre — 24–27 November 2026

Together the two sites offer around 400,000 m² and more than 4,000 exhibitors: SANY, XCMG, ZOOMLION, LiuGong, Sunward, Liebherr, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo CE and the full component supply chain — engines, hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, attachments, tyres, electronics and telematics. The 2026 edition puts particular emphasis on electrified and hydrogen machines, autonomous operation and digital fleet management.

One badge admits you to both venues and free shuttle buses run between them throughout the show.

The two-venue format is new, so plan your days around it rather than assuming a single site.

  Open 24–27 November 2026 — including the large outdoor demonstration areas that bauma is known for.

Only 23 November and 27 November are single-venue days. If you can only travel for part of the week, 24–26 November is the window when both sites are open.

Getting between them. The organiser runs free shuttle buses between SWEECC and SNIEC throughout the show, supported by wayfinding signage, a WeChat mini-programme and 24/7 AI customer service for route planning. By metro the two are about 25–35 minutes apart (Line 7/8 area to Longyang Road on Line 2/7/16/18). Allow an hour door to door including queues, and do not schedule back-to-back meetings across the two venues.

Product areas. Both venues run under one exhibition concept and one product portfolio — construction machinery, building-material machinery, mining machinery, construction vehicles, components and services — with dedicated zones for new-energy technology, intelligent equipment and digital solutions. Check the official hall plan when it is published to see which manufacturers sit at which site; large outdoor machinery traditionally concentrates at SNIEC.

SNIEC — Shanghai New International Expo Centre, 上海新国际博览中心

Metro Lines 2, 7, 16 and 18 to Longyang Road (龙阳路), then a 5–10 minute walk. From Pudong Airport (PVG): the maglev takes 8 minutes to Longyang Road — by far the fastest route in Shanghai; or Line 2, about 35 minutes; taxi ¥100–140, 35–45 minutes. From Hongqiao Airport (SHA): Line 2 direct, about 50–60 minutes; taxi ¥120–160.

Metro Line 8 to China Art Museum (中华艺术宫), exit 3; Line 7 to Yaohua Road (耀华路), exit 4; Line 13 to Expo Avenue (世博大道), exit 3. From PVG: taxi about 50 minutes, ¥140; or Line 2 to Longyang Road then Line 7 to Yaohua Road. From SHA: taxi about 35 minutes, ¥80; or Line 10 to Laoximen then Line 8 to China Art Museum.

Between the two venues — take the free official shuttle. If you miss it, metro Line 7 links Yaohua Road (SWEECC) to Longyang Road (SNIEC) directly in about 20 minutes plus walking.

Where to stay. Anywhere on Line 7 sits between the two venues and is the smartest base for this fair. Longyang Road / Century Park is closest to SNIEC; the Expo / Pudong Nanlu area is closest to SWEECC.

Outdoor areas. bauma's outdoor demonstration grounds are exposed — late November in Shanghai is cold and often windy. Dress for standing outside for an hour at a time.

Free online visitor registration at bauma-china.com. Register in advance and you receive a ticket / QR code by e-mail; print the badge from a kiosk on arrival at either venue.

"One Badge, Two Venues". The 2026 edition uses a single admission for both SWEECC and SNIEC — you do not need to register twice or pay twice. Keep the badge for the whole week; it is checked at both sites.

Bring your passport. Overseas visitors are asked for it at the registration counter and, at times, at the gate. Trade fair, trade visitors — a business card and company details are expected on the form.

Register early for the shuttle and app. Registered visitors get access to the official WeChat mini-programme with the hall plan, exhibitor search, shuttle timetable and route planning across both venues. On a two-site fair this is worth more than the printed catalogue.

Plan your exhibitor list before you fly. With 4,000 exhibitors across two venues, shortlist by manufacturer and note the venue as well as the hall and stand number. A shortlist without the venue column is the classic way to lose half a day.

Business cards. Bilingual, with WeChat QR. For machinery, also bring a one-page specification of what you are looking for — model class, operating weight, engine power, application and annual quantity.

Visa. M business visa. Messe München issues invitation letters to registered visitors — request one as soon as you register. Late November is busy at consulates because several major Shanghai fairs fall in the same weeks.

Weather. Shanghai in late November is 8–16 °C, often damp and windy, and colder on the outdoor demonstration grounds by the river. A proper coat, not a jacket — you will spend real time outside at this fair.

Hotels. Two venues means the Pudong hotel belt fills completely. Book two to three months ahead and stay on Line 7 between the two sites rather than next to one of them.

Budget a full day per venue, minimum. SNIEC alone with the outdoor areas is a full day. Trying to do both venues in one day means seeing neither properly.

Machinery buying homework. Bring your application, operating conditions, required attachments, emission standard for your market and target annual quantity. For Chinese OEMs, ask specifically about after-sales presence in your country, spare-parts lead times, operator training and warranty handling — this, not price, is where deals fail.

Homologation. Emission and safety standards differ by market. Confirm which engine and configuration can legally be imported and registered in your country before you sign anything.

Factory visits. SANY (Changsha), XCMG (Xuzhou), ZOOMLION (Changsha) and LiuGong (Liuzhou) are all reachable by high-speed rail from Shanghai in 4–7 hours. If you are seriously evaluating a supplier, plan the factory trip in the same week.
