China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE)
13–18 April 2027
Haikou, Hainan
Description
The Asia-Pacific's largest consumer goods expo, held every April at the Hainan International Convention & Exhibition Center in Haikou inside the Hainan Free Trade Port. International premium brands, a domestic "China Goods" pavilion, duty-free retail, beauty and fragrance, food and wine, jewellery and watches, fashion, healthcare and smart lifestyle. The last two days open to the public; the first days are trade-only. Exact 2027 dates are confirmed by the organiser each winter.
About the Fair
The China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) — 消博会 — is the Asia-Pacific's largest consumer goods expo. Held every April in Haikou, Hainan, at the Hainan International Convention & Exhibition Center, it is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and the Hainan Provincial Government as the showcase event of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
CICPE is the consumer-goods counterpart to CIIE: it exists to bring global premium brands into the Chinese consumer market. Alongside the international pavilions there is a large domestic "China Goods" section for Chinese brands going premium and going abroad. Categories run across beauty and fragrance, food and wine, jewellery and watches, fashion and leather goods, home and lifestyle, health and wellness, smart consumer electronics, mother and baby, pets, and duty-free retail.
The Hainan setting is the point. The island's free-trade-port policy — duty-free allowances, tax incentives, relaxed import rules for consumer goods — makes it China's testbed for consumption policy, and the expo doubles as the meeting place for duty-free operators, luxury distributors and cross-border e-commerce platforms.
Note the format: the opening days are trade-only, and the final two days open to the general public. Plan your business meetings for the professional days.
Venue Layout — Exhibition Zones
The Hainan International Convention & Exhibition Center sits on Haikou's west coast, on Binhai Avenue. CICPE fills the halls plus temporary outdoor structures, organised by category and by origin.
- International Premium Goods zones — the core of the expo, grouped loosely by region and category: European luxury and fashion houses, Japanese and Korean beauty, Southeast Asian food and agricultural products, wine and spirits, watches and jewellery.
- "China Goods" (国货优品) zone — Chinese premium and heritage brands, provincial pavilions, and the fast-growing Chinese beauty, appliance and outdoor-equipment labels. For buyers looking to import from China, this is the hall that matters.
- Beauty and personal care — one of the largest and most competitive sections, reflecting Hainan's duty-free cosmetics trade.
- Food, wine and spirits — importers, distributors and origin pavilions; heavy tasting programme.
- Jewellery, watches and gifts.
- Fashion, leather goods and accessories.
- Home, lifestyle and smart consumer electronics — appliances, home fragrance, furniture accents, personal tech.
- Health, wellness, mother-and-baby and pet products — the fastest-growing consumer categories in China.
- Duty-free and travel retail — Hainan's duty-free operators and travel-retail platforms; unique to this expo.
Alongside the halls run brand launches, a new-product release programme, buyer matchmaking sessions and consumption-policy forums. Many international brands use CICPE for their China debut, so the launch schedule is worth checking before you plan your days.
Venue & Getting There
Venue: Hainan International Convention & Exhibition Center — 海南国际会展中心
No. 150 Binhai Avenue, Xiuying District, Haikou, Hainan (the West Coast area). In Baidu or Amap search 海南国际会展中心.
From Haikou Meilan International Airport (HAK) — about 35–40 km across the city; taxi ¥80–120, 40–55 minutes. By public transport: airport shuttle line 2 to Hainan Normal University, then bus 35 to the exhibition centre (about 10 minutes' walk from the stop); or the airport shuttle to the West Bus Station and bus 35 or 57. During the expo the organiser normally runs free shuttle buses from the airport and the main hotel clusters.
From Haikou Railway Station / Haikou East Station — buses 35, 28, 37 and 57 serve the venue directly; from the high-speed East Station take bus 86 or 35A. Taxi from either is 20–35 minutes.
By bus — routes 35, 35A/35B, 28, 37, 57 and 84 all stop at or near the exhibition centre; 57 is the express.
Haikou has no metro. Plan around taxis, Didi and the expo shuttles rather than rail. Traffic on Binhai Avenue is heavy at opening and closing times — leave 20 minutes earlier than the map suggests.
Where to stay. The West Coast hotel strip along Binhai Avenue is closest to the venue and where most delegations stay. Downtown Haikou (Guomao, Longhua) is 15–25 minutes away with more restaurants and better prices. Book early — April is high season on Hainan and the expo fills the city.
Getting around the island. The Hainan high-speed loop line connects Haikou to Sanya in about 90 minutes, which makes a two-city trip easy if you are also meeting duty-free operators in Sanya.
Registration & Badge
Register online in advance at hainanexpo.org.cn. There are separate registration tracks for professional visitors / buyers, exhibitors, media and — for the final days — public visitors. Register on the professional track: it is free, and it is what gets you in on the trade days when the aisles are workable.
Professional days vs public days. The first days of the run are trade-only; the last two days open to the general public and the halls become extremely crowded. Public-day tickets do not give access to the trade programme or matchmaking. If you are coming to do business, book flights so that you are there at the start of the run, not the end.
Real-name entry, passport required. Register with the exact name and number on your passport page and carry the passport every day — it is checked with the badge at the gate.
Buyer registration is worth the extra step. CICPE runs a registered-buyer programme with matchmaking, brand-launch invitations and, for qualifying importers and retailers, hosted-buyer arrangements. Apply through the professional visitor portal well before the fair; approvals take time.
Badge collection. Self-service kiosks and counters at the exhibition centre entrances; bring your QR code and passport. Security screening at every gate.
Business cards. Bilingual, with WeChat QR. For consumer goods, also bring your retail footprint in one line — channels, store count or online GMV. Brand stands triage visitors by distribution capability, and a clear answer moves you from the counter to the meeting room.
Before You Go
Confirm the dates. CICPE runs every April, but the exact dates are confirmed by the organiser a few months ahead. Check hainanexpo.org.cn before booking flights and hotels.
Visa — and the Hainan exception. Hainan operates a visa-free entry policy for visitors from a long list of countries arriving through a travel agency, and China's broader visa-free and transit-visa arrangements may also apply. Rules change; confirm your own nationality's current status with the Chinese embassy or your travel agency before assuming you can skip the M visa.
Weather. Haikou in April is 24–30 °C, humid and tropical, with sudden showers. Light clothing, an umbrella, and sun protection for the walk between halls and hotel shuttles.
Hotels. April is Hainan's high season and the expo fills Haikou. Book two to three months ahead. The West Coast strip is closest; downtown is cheaper and better for dinners.
Understand the trade direction. Most exhibitors are here to sell into China. If you are an importer looking to buy Chinese consumer goods, head straight for the "China Goods" section and the provincial pavilions — the international halls will not serve you.
Duty-free is the local subtext. Hainan's duty-free operators, cross-border e-commerce platforms and travel-retail buyers all attend. If your product could work in travel retail, this is the one Chinese fair where those buyers are in the same building.
Samples and tastings. Food, wine and beauty stands run heavy sampling programmes. Ask about import registration requirements early — for food, cosmetics and health products, China's registration and labelling rules decide whether a deal is even possible, and that conversation is better had at the stand than after a contract.
Payments and apps. Alipay or WeChat Pay set up before you fly, a translation app, and a VPN if you rely on Google services.
